Beer garden opens Friday outside Nationals Park
Washington Business Journal - by Missy Frederick Staff Reporter
A beer garden and entertainment center located across the street from Nationals Park will open this Friday before the team’s game against the Philadelphia Philies.
“The Bullpen” will be located at the corner of N St. and Half streets SE.
Included in the venue are interactive sports games for children, food vendors such as Rocklands BBQ and Surfside Restaurant, a 3,200-square foot tented Bud Light beer garden and a stage for live music.
Pick-Up Productions is handling the live music booking for the venue.
The idea for the site came about from Akridge, a developer who was looking to create activity on an undeveloped site near the ballpark, to create excitement around its Half Street mixed-use project. The move provides an opportunity for a developer to have activity on an undeveloped site during a market crunch that is stalling much new construction.
The Bullpen will be open two hours before every home game and until midnight, and during some special events.
