As one of the pioneers of modern hip-hop, Atlanta’s vibrant music scene owes a great deal to Big Boi. Antwan André Patton, known by his stage name Big Boi, cemented his legacy as the region’s foremost wordsmith, funkiest gentleman, and resident ATLien. He rose to fame as one-half of OutKast, the legendary duo that sold 25 million albums and gathered a whopping seven GRAMMY® Awards. Their 2003 RIAA Diamond-certified Speakerboxxx/The Love Below made history as the first and only hip-hop album to win “Album of the Year” at the GRAMMY®. Big Boi’s solo debut album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty earned him a spot on Pitchfork’s “100 Best Albums of the Decade ‘So Far'”, and his subsequent albums, including 2017’s Boomiverse, have continued to impress critics and audiences alike.
Big Boi has also shown his talents in other areas, as he announced his upcoming role as executive producer for the crime series Government Records. Additionally, he has signed a deal with Bread and Butter Content Studio to produce the upcoming series Big Boi’s Gotta Eat, where he’ll explore the freshest seafood and unique food culture of the coast to coast with his infectious energy. With all of his successes, Big Boi has certainly earned his place on hip-hop’s own “Rap Mount Rushmore” for being a diamond-selling artist, rapper, songwriter, record producer, actor, and philanthropist who has contributed greatly to the culture of hip-hop and Atlanta.
Located directly across from Washington Nationals Stadium, The Bullpen is a unique, open-air event space nestled in the heart of the Navy Yard, DC district – making it a sought after destination for thousands of locals and visitors alike.
