The Bullpen

Starting this weekend, Nationals fans might finally have a reason to come early and stay late for games at Nationals Park. The Bullpen, an outdoor food and entertainment venue located at Half Street between M and N Streets, will have a Grand Opening on Friday at 5 p.m. The facility will serve food, beer and margaritas. It will also have a special beer garden for adults sponsored by Bud Light. Local food vendors include Rocklands, Colonial Kettle Corn and Surfside.

It is opening Friday, May 15th at 5:00. Located at the corner of N St. and Half St. SE. it will be open from 2 hours before game time until midnight. For those of you who use the Navy Yard Metro stop to go to the ballpark, you won't be able to miss it when you walk down Half Street towards the Centerfield Gate entrance.

Young bulls, bucks, does, and stallions, we’re about to corral you into a pen.

But this isn’t like those usual bull pens with balls flying at you. This Bullpen is nothing but fun.

Show up to the outdoor space before or after Nats home games for live music from local bands. You’ll be trading your beloved field for a garden — a tented beer garden, that is — with plenty of TVs tuned to the game (should you opt to stay and skip it).

Before Opening Day I offered my guidance as a Hill dweller on the best carry-out/carry-in dining options near the stadium, but none of them are quite as convenient as the new bar and restaurant opening up nearby called "The Bullpen."
